Maritime Security: Indian Ocean

MRC have been working in partnership with a local organisation for the Seychelles flagged vessels since the beginning of 2009. The initial aim and now continuing model was to develop a series of maritime security teams that would accompany Seychelles flagged vessels on fishing operations from their base in Victoria (Mahe).

As quality and safety on this task have always been paramount all individuals engaged are required to undergo an enhanced vetting procedure beyond BS7858 standard requirements. MRC not only provided start up and ongoing recruitment support but some operational support though assisting with the development of SOPs and systems.

Pipeline Security: UK

In August 2006 MRC were approached by Murphy pipelines to assist with the provision of security services for the natural gas pipeline crossing Powys, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire. After a brief period of consultancy MRC set about providing a complete ‘Security Service’. Under the direction of MRC we established a 24/7 control facility with static and mobile security teams supported by dog teams across all sites. Long range communications were set up and priority equipment was alarmed using wireless and GPS technology. Real time satellite tracking is also utilised to monitor and record patrol activity and response times to incidents. Online access to this system enables both MRC management and Murphy to have access for audit.

Alongside the practical solutions MRC established an information system for incident analysis and crime reporting, linking and liaising with the three separate Police Constabularies.

2007 - 2010: MRC continue to provide this service for similar pipeline contracts in Hull, Leeds, Newport and London.

Security Consultancy: Moscow

This project involved the scoping and review of security for a new flagship office being established by a US Communications and Media Company in Moscow. The organisation had not previously operated in the Russian Federation and commissioned a Report and Risk Assessment to better assess the country specific risk and suitability of the development chosen for their new office.

A full review of the building was undertaken evaluating physical design, surrounding area, systems, procedures and likely modus operandi for criminal or terrorist activity. The building security measures and procedures were assessed against ASIS Standards.

The concise report format, backed up with a detailed Risk Assessment, provided a series of recommendations for procedural and physical security enhancements against the risk of crime and terrorist attack aimed at the building or the client directly.

The requirement was for a full review of their current security arrangements, including a number of legacy systems and contracts at the site, together with detailed proposals for managing security more effectively and within a budget. MRC subsequently took the approved proposal to tender and assisted Partnerships for Schools select a new security provider.
