Bob Cole - Director

Following a highly successful British Army career serving in the Royal Engineers and the SAS, and a further 5 years as a corporate Head of Security, Bob established MRC in 2002 to provide independent advice for commercial operations so to counter terrorism and crime. He is a specialist in security audits, business contingency planning, risk and project management; in particular for VIP Protection and Corporate security. During 2003/4 he was the 'start up' project operations manager for a contract in Iraq with 300+ operatives deployed providing mobile and static protection teams, communications control centres and a risk analysis service for the UK Government. Since 1996 he has conducted several similar projects worldwide as a contract security manager and specialist consultant.

In 1998 Bob co-wrote the Museums and Galleries Commission Inaugural Security Manual, since adopted by 2500 Museums, Galleries and Libraries in the UK and overseas. In 2002 he also co wrote British Standard BS 8406:2003 'Event stewarding and crowd safety services-code of practice'.

Bob has a full range of recognised security qualifications and speaks Arabic; he is a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management (FInstLM), Member of the Association of Security Consultants (ASC) & American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS).

Jill Cole - Recruitment Director

Jill takes prime responsibility for ensuring that recruitment candidates are suitably matched by experience and qualifications to meet the job criteria. Quality and welfare are strong company principles and Jill takes the lead to ensure that these commitments are implemented throughout the business. In her role overseeing the entire recruitment team Jill is able to verify that each candidate deployed not only meets the client’s high standards but also were appropriate they have been vetted and screened in accordance with best practice standards.

 

Through establishing the recruitment business Jill has been able to gain significance within the security and recruitment industries. Jill is frequently the key point of contact during presentations that the company undertakes at service leaver events and seminars to encourage the best candidates to register with the company. Though establishing the business with Bob and jointly leading it through both large and smaller start-up operations with clients Jill has developed a wealth of business acumen and is a major contributor to the company’s tendering and commercial activities. This has been assisted by Jill’s prior experience of running and promoting home based businesses during her early career when she developed a training programme for several similar companies as well as her own franchise.

 

Jill is the main point of contact for key Government and commercial clients worldwide coordinating simultaneous recruitment and selection programmes. In working on these major contracts and in developing these programmes further Jill has been instrumental in enhancing the company’s capability and service offer. She introduced the ‘managed service’ for recruitment clients after identifying the need that some clients required additional support so they could focus on their core activities. More recently she has taken the lead of widening the scope of the company’s vetting and welfare programme though the introduction of psychometric testing, pre-deployment medical screening and enhancing the corporate insurance policies so that they exceed current industry standards. Despite being senior in the company Jill takes a personal involvement in key recruitment tasks and often acts as a point of contact for families of those deployed overseas.

 

In the earlier part of Jill’s career she qualified as a Teacher and while in the education sector for 20 years she held various positions of responsibility across the UK. These early years built a solid foundation for understanding the needs of individuals and the ability to assess the merits of candidates for tasks. Jill still assists individuals with personal development by coaching individuals to prepare CVs and interview techniques often at events the company hosts or attends for service leavers.

Major General Arthur Denaro CBE DL - Specialist Advisor to Minimal Risk

During his 35 years as a soldier, Major General Denaro commanded his Regiment in the first Gulf War, was Chief of Staff of some 44,000 multinational troops during the Balkans conflict and then became Commandant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) for 3 years. Until December 2002 he was the Middle East Advisor (MEA) to the Secretary of State for Defence, a position he held for 6 years.

He was commissioned from Sandhurst in 1968 into the Queens Royal Hussars. He has also spent time with UK Special Forces. Major General Denaro has had honorary appointments as Colonel The Queen's Royal Hussars and Honorary Colonel The Royal Gloucestershire Hussars and The Royal Wessex Yeomanry.

He became an OBE after the Gulf War in 1999 and a CBE following his time in the Former Yugoslavia. He was an advisor to the Crown Prince of Bahrain from 2003 to 2007 and a council member of the Princes' Trust 2000 - 2008.
 
He is currently an advisor to a number of companies with interests in the Middle East.

Nick Gammon - Human Resource Manager

Nick Gammon completed a 23 year engagement with the British Army and joined MRC in June 07. Nick initially joined the Royal Army Ordnance Corps in 1984 specialising in the Administration role before being transferred into the Adjutant General’s Corps upon its formation in 1992 continuing within the clerical field specialising more in human resource management.

He has served in various appointments from the Ministry of Defence Procurement Executive, NATO, Brigade Headquarters, Infantry Battalions HQs and Embassies in the Middle East. He brings a wide ranging breadth of HR and administrative experience with him.

Nick is the focal point for all MRC quality management policies and the coordinator for reviews and audits by an external accrediting body. In addition he assists the MRC Director of Recruitment in her role and looks after the generalist HR issues within the office.

Nick is a Member of the Chartered Management Institute, a Fellow of the Institute of Continuous Professional Development as well as an Internal Quality Systems Auditor.

Greg Cole - Project Manager

Prior to joining MRC in early 2009, Greg worked as an Assistant Project Manager for a major UK based Construction Company where he worked on a £44m development in the West End of London from demolition to completion of the new building. In his role Greg was responsible for many of the project’s Health and Safety and Environmental aspects and procured a significant proportion of the work to complete the project. This role involved up front planning and delivery where he followed the construction process from initial tendering through to implementation and completion. Aside from his main role Greg also delivered a training module to the company’s supply chain through their in house training establishment.

Greg graduated from the University of Edinburgh in with a Politics MA in 2005 focusing on African Politics, Post-Soviet Politics, International Security and War and Justice. Prior to graduating Greg completed and internship with the Scottish Parliament working for a central Edinburgh MSP.

After graduating Greg continued his studies by completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Construction Management (Project Management) at Herriot Watt University relating to the built environment and management of construction projects at strategic and practical level. Greg is a full member of the Association of Security Consultants.

Greg is employed by MRC as the Project Manager supporting the recruitment team from the London Office and also oversees various asset protection and consultancy tasks. Outside work Greg is currently studying for a Certificate in Terrorism Studies from the University of St Andrews.   

David McKeown - Finance & Administration Manager

David completed twelve and a half years with the Royal Air Force in 2008. As a Personnel Administrator within the Royal Air Force he worked in a diverse range of roles which initially began as a Personnel Documentation Clerk in arguably the busiest Royal Air Force administration office at that time. He later moved onto two operational tours on Special Employment in Northern Ireland and additionally completed a posting to the Permanent Joint Headquarters (PJHQ) at Northwood Headquarters.
David went onto work as a Property Manager for a family run Lettings Agency. David was responsible for coordinating with landlords, tenants and contractors to facilitate property inspections and subsequent maintenance repairs.

David later moved to a major bank as a Mortgage Manager after having completed his Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP) and his professional accreditation. Outside work David continues studying for an Open University Degree in Social Science and Economics.

David joined Minimal Risk in July 2009 providing administration and finance support for a variety of projects in the UK and overseas.
 
Dan Reast - Operations Support Manager

Following a career in the leisure industry specialising in logistics, Dan brought the same industry knowledge and attention to detail to MRC in May 2007.

As our deputy operations manager Dan not only provides operational support to all of our projects but also overseas the company’s logistics where he has improved our operational processes and supply networks. Dan plans, coordinates and implements a comprehensive fleet management and logistics program as well as providing consultation and subject matter expertise.

Within the operations department Dan is involved in the day to day management of our projects worldwide ensuring that the existing level of customer service is maintained and improved upon at all times, whilst setting achievable targets.

Natalie Stevens - Administration and Finance Assistant

Prior to joining MRC in mid 2009, Natalie gained 10 years experience working in the construction industry. She developed significant experience in implementing strong administration and office support for a variety of projects in the sector with a reputable company. Natalie leads the Hereford office’s reception service and assists the team with administration and office support for a variety of projects in the UK and overseas.
